The annual event, considered one of the world’s foremost international film festivals, will host the world premiere of 1982: Greatest Geek Year Ever! on the evening of Saturday, October 8. Playing in competition, this feature-length documentary chronicles one of the most imaginative and impactful years for genre filmmaking in the history of cinema. The documentary features over 100 interviews with actors, filmmakers and pop culture icons including Ron Howard, William Shatner, Henry Winkler, Bruce Campbell, Cameron Crowe, Amy Heckerling, Roger Corman, Adrienne Barbeau, Paul Schrader, Leonard Maltin, John Sayles, Keith David, Dean Devlin, Nicholas Meyer, Lisa Henson, Steven Lisberger, Raffaella De Laurentiis, JoBeth Williams, Mick Garris, Bryan Fuller, Steven E. de Souza, Barry Bostwick, Dee Wallace, Sean Young, David Clennon, Don Coscarelli and many others. The documentary takes you back to a monumental time in cinema history, featuring behind the scenes stories on the making of such landmark films as E.T., Blade Runner, Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan, Poltergeist, First Blood, The Thing, Tron, The Dark Crystal, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and of course, Megaforce.
