Paramount and CBS have confirmed the Blu-ray release of Star Trek: The Original Series – The Roddenberry Vault will feature 12 classic episodes, plus three documentaries.
The documentaries will boast previously unseen footage and new interviews with “notable Star Trek figures.” The new content includes “alternate takes, deleted scenes, omitted dialogue, outtakes, and original visual FX elements” that have been transferred from unused material preserved in film canisters by the Roddenberry Estate.
The episodes are The Corbomite Maneuver, Arena, Space Seed, This Side of Paradise, The Devil in the Dark, The City on the Edge of Forever, Operation – Annihilate!, Metamorphosis, Who Mourns for Adonais?, Mirror Mirror, The Trouble with Tribbles, and Return to Tomorrow. The episodes will be presented in 1080p with both DTS 7.1 Master Audio as well as freshly-restored original Mono. All but one episode will feature an isolated music track and three episodes will come with newly-recorded audio commentaries.
The Roddenberry Vault will be available on December 13 in commemoration of the show’s 50th Anniversary.
